Our mission is to promote the development of sustainable biotechnologies for cleaner water and a safer environment, by examining diverse catabolic activities of microbes, and by harnessing their activities for engineering applications. We address these issues by taking an integrative approach using traditional microbiological and chemical analyses (culturing, bioreactors, mass spectrometry and compound-specific isotope analysis) in combination with molecular biological methods (microarray, stable isotope probing, meta-omics analysis).
