Dr. Jeongdae Im received bachelor’s and master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Seoul National University. Before pursuing his doctorate, he worked in one of the largest construction companies in Korea as a research and development engineer. In 2006, he came to the United States to pursue a doctorate degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan. He worked as a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Tennessee from 2011 to 2015, and as a research assistant professor in Microbiology department at the University of Massachusetts until 2017. His overarching research goal is to promote the development of sustainable biotechnologies for Water-Energy-Health-Climate nexus, by examining diverse catabolic activities of microbes, and by harnessing their activities for environmental engineering applications. Seongmin Yang received bachelor's in Environmental Engineering from Jeonbuk National University and master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from KAIST. He is working on microbial processes controlling greenhouse gas emissions from forage conservation process. He also involved in "plant-microbe interaction focusing on nitrogen cycle". He started the PhD program in 2021 spring. Marc Almloff received bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with a secondary major in Environmental Sciences and Natural Resources at Kansas State University. Marc is from Overland Park, KS and enjoys playing ultimate frisbee in his spare time. Before he started the master’s program in fall of 2021, Marc worked as an undergraduate researcher for the Environmental Biotechnology Lab. Currently, he is working on survival strategies of Dehalococcoides in saline environments.
